J Hildebrant Published In National Geographic Childrens Book

National Geographic has published a new book for children by Susan Magsamen. This is a lovely compilation of beautiful artwork and fun things that parents and children can experience together. Jean Hildebrant grew up in a small town of Roseburg, Oregon, where painting wasn't a priority and art school wasn't an option. After years of rearing children, she finally has time to paint. “I wouldn't change a thing,” she says, “but I've always had to do art when I could eke out a few moments for myself. It's my time now.”



Indeed it is. Al Aire Libre, with its bright color and subtle elegance, is Hildebrant's first entry to the Pastel 100 competition, through the Scottsdale, Arizona, artist has been painting all her life. “I started drawing when I was about 3, and it's always been something I could see I had some talent in, something I loved.” Hildebrant work full time from her home now, doing commissions in pastel and oil and taking breaks to do paintings like her first-place...
