Title
Making Piki Bread
Artist
Jean Hildebrant
Medium
Painting - Pastel
Description
I saw these women making piki bread at a Native American celebration in Arizona. They are of the Hopi tribe and are making the bread in the same fashion as many generations before them. The boys watch on, eager for a taste. It was an overcast day so there was no strong shadow and light patterns but the beautiful colors and patterns in their native dress, the camaraderie of the women and the eager anticipation of the boys made for an interesting painting.
